Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

Integrating the voice of the customer into products and services

At its heart, quality is understanding customer’s expectations, and then putting systems and programs in place to meet or exceed those expectations and empowering employees to make it all happen.   Thus, it’s vital that companies identify the customer, and deploy the voice of the customer into product designs and manufacturing processes.  That is what QFD does and it does it based upon facts and data, not guesswork and hunches.

This is a seminar on the practical application of quality function deployment, using a format known as the House Of Quality (HOQ).  It is a technique for planning and developing products and/or processes to ensure adherence to and deployment of the customers needs and expectations.  It provides a structured way to quantitatively translate customer's needs and expectations into design and process parameters.

Applicability to both product and process design will be demonstrated through actual examples.  Participants will apply the methods to their own organization’s product or process as a part of the class.
